Orbenil is indicated principally in the treatment of infections caused by penicillinase-producing staphylococci. Because of the high incidence of staphylococcal isolates resistant to penicillin G, both within and outside the hospital environment, Orbenil is recommended as initial therapy in patients with suspected staphylococcal infections. Orbenil is also effective in the treatment of other commonly encountered Gram-positive coccal infections.Typical indications include: Respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia, sinusitis. Infected wounds and burns. Osteomyelitis and septic arthritis. Other infections due to staphylococci (including penicillin-resistant strains) such as staphylococcal septicemia, staphylococcal endocarditis, staphylococcal enterocolitis and staphylococcal urinary tract infections.
